Billing and User Statuses

Billing Rules

The customer is billed only for users with Active status:

  • Active Access
  • Active No Access

The customer is not billed for:

  • Undefined (Other)
  • Technical
  • Inactive
  • Alias

Status Definitions

  • Active Access: user is active, meaning their calories are counted and shown individually on the dashboard, and they have platform access (they receive an activation email, can log in, and can view their own statistics; with proper permissions they can also view broader data).
  • Active No Access: user is active, meaning their calories are counted and shown individually on the dashboard, but they do not have platform access.
  • Undefined (Other): a new user who has not yet been assigned to the proper category. After scanning a new repository, users that were not previously present in the database are classified as Undefined until an administrator assigns them.
  • Technical: technical/integration account, not billable.
  • Inactive: non-billable account; historical statistics remain available.

Important Rule for Inactive Users

If an Inactive user performs new activity (for example, a commit), their status automatically changes back to Undefined (Other) and should be reclassified by an administrator.

Monthly Billing Cycle

At the beginning of each month, a snapshot of active users is taken. Billing is issued based on that snapshot and a billing report is sent to the customer.
